My Impressions on Every Alexandria I Have

Source: www.alexandriafragrances.com

Good morning, everyone! I hope everyone is doing fine in this cool weather that is coming along. I am so pumped for it to cool down. Fall and winter fragrances are my favorites and it's just an amazing time of year for me.

I have a lot of fragrances from Alexandria, more than any other house in my collection. These range from samples to full bottles. I just thought I would give a short description of each as a "master list" for people who might be new to the house or just simply want my impression on a certain one. I haven't fully reviewed all of these yet, but I will get around to them in due time.

This article was thought up by me and has no affiliation with Alexandria Fragrances. Most of these fragrances I did receive for free from Alexandria, but it did not impact my opinion on them. I was also not compensated in any way for my reviews on them.

There won't be any pictures on this one due to the sheer number of fragrances listed here. Also, I didn't alphabetize them, sorry. They are not listed from best to worst. They are just numbered for cleanliness.

I also did a tier rating on each.

S- top-notch offerings from the house
A- fragrances that I thoroughly enjoy and always want in my collection
B- Solid offerings from the house, but not amazing
C- Mediocre offerings
D- Fragrances that just missed the mark for me

Some of the notes listed aren't official ones, but ones that I picked up from the fragrances.

I hope you enjoy it! Let's get into it!

1. Hafez 1984
Main Notes: Cavendish tobacco, saffron, guaiac wood and rum

Weather: Cool to cold

Occasion: Semi-formal to formal

Inspired by: Original creation

Tier: S

Hafez 1984 is what put Alexandria on the map. This beastly tobacco fragrance is masculine to its core and is unapologetic for its personality. This fragrance has a very strong and pungent tobacco note with some classy rum added to it. Hearty and masculine guaiac wood with a slightly sweet and smoky nuance added to leathery saffron with a touch of dark and earthy patchouli. This fragrance is for a serious man who means business. It smells way more expensive than Alexandria's pricing may suggest. If you enjoy Alexandria fragrances and you haven't at least tried this one, then you owe it to yourself to at least try this hallmark fragrance.

2. Hafez Gold
Main Notes: Vanilla, cinnamon, tobacco, and sandalwood

Weather: Cold

Occasion: Date night/casual nighttime outings

Inspired by: Original creation

Tier: A

This fragrance was much sweeter than I anticipated given the overtly masculine vibe of Hafez 1984. It's still quite good though. Creamy vanilla with cherried tobacco is what I get from this one. Tobacco is not listed as a note, but I am sure it's in there. The sandalwood seems like it is a bit smoky, or there is something smoky in there. A pretty good fragrance for dates and nighttime wear. I haven't been able to test it in the cold yet, but I am sure it will be much better during that time due to its sweetness.

3. Highlands

Main Notes: Lavender, cedar, sandalwood, and vetiver

Weather: Any(leans more towards cold weather)

Occasion: Any

Inspired by: Creed Bois du Portugal

Tier: S

Highlands was a shocker for me. Not because I didn't know what Creed BdP smelled like, but because of how close it is to it. This is the only Alexandria fragrance that I can say is nearly identical to the fragrance it was inspired by. An amazingly beautiful fougere  withy oriental woody depth. The opening is slightly powdery and you get the citrus zest from the lime, which quickly settles into the background. The cedar is peppery and adds a bit of spicy depth. The sandalwood is smooth and a bit creamy. What you end up getting is an amazing floral fragrance with a bit of spice and woods.

It's along the lines of Azzaro Pour Homme a bit. It doesn't smell that similar, but just to give you an idea. This one is much more rounded and smoother, which allows it to not smell like grandpa's favorite. At 33, I have already worn this fragrance 5 times and I have only had it about two weeks.

4. Glacier

Main Notes: Rice, pear, grapefruit, lemon, and neroli

Weather: Warm to mild

Occasion: Casual to formal

Inspired by: Creed Pure White Cologne

Tier: A

Glacier is inspired by one of my favorite summertime Creed fragrances, Pure White. A fresh and clean unisex fragrance that is reminiscent of a cool and foggy morning in England. Pear is not a note I am too fond of, it normally comes out as too feminine for my tastes, but Creed executed this perfectly. The powdery nuances and nutty aroma of the rice note paired(peared...See what I did there?! Heh) tangy grapefruit and lemon makes this fragrance has a classy and cooling sensation that is perfect for a white button-up shirt.

5. Italian Caramel
Main Notes: Toffee, almond, milk, vanilla, and sandalwood

Weather: Cool to cold

Occasion: Date night/casual

Inspired by: Xerjoff Italica

Tier: A

Italian Caramel is a silky smooth gourmand that entices you. It honestly makes me hungry. I was having trouble identifying the opening, until someone I the Alexandria Facebook group said it smelled like powdered fruit punch Kool-Aid. I revisited it and they were right. That only lasts for about 15-20 seconds though. Then you get the sweet and buttered toffee with milk, creamy vanilla and sandalwood, and nutty almonds(not the bitter type). This fragrance smells exactly like some freshly baked almond cookies. Absolutely gorgeous.

6. Paris Night
Main Notes: Amber, benzoin, and vanilla

Weather: Cool to cold

Occasion: Date night to formal

Inspired by: MFK Grand Soir

Tier: A

Paris Night is a luxurious spiced amber with vanilla and sweet benzoin. You pretty much get an amped-up spiced fragrance with 3 different nuances of vanilla. A very classy date night fragrance. This fragrance smells expensive, which is fitting seeing what it was inspired by.

7. Moonstruck
Main Notes: Vanilla, Peru balsam, cardamom, and cinnamon

Weather: Cool to cold

Occasion: Date night and nighttime wear

Inspired by: Atelier de Ors Lune Feline

Tier: S

I am just going to say it now. This is the best vanilla fragrance I have ever smelled. I haven't smelled the original of this one, but the Alexandria versions fires on all cylinders for me. A warm resinous vanilla paired with sweet balsam, spicy cardamom, and dry cinnamon. Amazing performance on this beautiful fragrance helps elevate it above other vanilla fragrances like Sublime Vanille. If you love vanilla ad spices, then get a sample of this one when you can.

8. Funtastic
Main Notes: Leather, bitter almond, and clary sage

Weather: Cool to cold

Occasion: Any

Inspired by: Tom Ford F'ing Fabulous

Tier: B

Funtastic is such a strange fragrance to me. It's unique for sure. It smells like pungent animalic leather with a dash of herbs and baby powder. It's a good fragrance, even though I rated it as a B.  I just can't figure out if I really like this one or I think it's just okay. Regardless, people seem to love it and it's a best seller for Alexandria. If you are looking for something super unique, you might want to sample this. Be warned though, it's polarizing and not everyone will appreciate this one.

9. 1981X
Main Notes: Honey, tobacco, lavender, vanilla, cinnamon, and tonka

Weather: Cool to cold

Occasion: Any

Inspired by: Xerjoff Naxos

Tier: S

1981X is a very masculine fragrance that is a mass pleasing tobacco and honey fragrance. Decadent honey drizzled on slightly pungent tobacco with some sweet vanilla and dry cinnamon. The tonka is a lightly nutty roasted tonka. I also pick up something that is a bit peppery in this mix, but I am not sure what is giving that nuance to me. Regardless, this is a beautiful fragrance and it's hyped for a reason. It's also quite versatile for a cooler weather fragrance.

10. Alexandria Port
Main Notes: Neroli, lemon, orange blossom, mandarin, and jasmine

Weather: Warm to hot

Occasion: Any

Inspired by: Tom Ford Neroli Portofino

Tier: A

Alexandria Port is a classicly themed fragrance that is perfect for the summer. This type of DNA has been around for decades and has stood the test of time. This is a unisex fragrance to the core. Light, floral, and citrusy. Like sitting on the Italian coast in a white shirt, Alexandria Port just works.

11. Mr. Sillage
Main Notes: Vanilla, myrrh, and tonka

Weather: Cold

Occasion: Date night/casual

Inspired by: Jo Malone Myrrh and Tonka

Tier: A

Mr. Sillage was aptly named after a reviewer that we lost over a year ago now. This was his favorite fragrance. A very sweet and balsamic paired with some slightly medicinal myrrh that is warm and woody. A very captivating fragrance. A good one for vanilla lovers.

12. The Irish Gentleman
Main notes: Lemon verbena, iris, violet, and green notes

Weather: Mild to hot

Occasion: Any

Inspired by: Creed Green Irish Tweed

Tier: S

Green Irish Tweed was my favorite fragrance for a long time. It was dethroned by Guerlain Vetiver, but my love affair with GIT is still there. Aptly called an "upscale Irish Spring". Wrongfully called a clone of Cool Water. They smell very different. Freshly grown lemon verbena in the spring, ozonic violet, and a bit of powdery iris make this a crowd favorite, no matter if it's 1990 or 2019. Some times just get better with time and this is one of them.

13. Interplay Extrait
Main Notes: Bitter Almond, ambergris, and saffron

Weather: Cold

Occasion: Any(works very well for date nights)

Inspired by: MFK Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait

Tier: S

Interplay Extrait is a fragrance that most people say they get different smells from. The ambergris seems to work differently on everyone's skin, which is cool. You can hear everything from it smells like latex, a dentist's office, or something super sweet. I understand why people say that. I think it smells like latex, but has a sweet and captivating vibe to it. It's addicting. Also, stop saying this fragrance only lasts 15 minutes. You go anosmic to it. Others can smell it on you up to 8 hours later, at minimum. I guarantee it.

14. Fructus Virginis
Main Notes: Cherry, griotte syrup, bitter almond, tonka, and vanilla

Weather: Cold

Occasion: Date night/casual

Inspired by: Tom Ford Lost Cherry

Tier: A

Fructus Virginis is a cherry bob with vibes of a boozy amaretto drink. Warm, nutty, and bitter almond with dark cherries, creamy vanilla, sweet maple-like syrup, and creamy sandalwood make this a cherry lover's dream. A very seductive fragrance and one of the best Valentine's Day fragrances you can get your nose on.

15. Royal Equestrian
Main Notes: Apple, vanilla, cinnamon, and cardamom

Weather: Mild to cold

Occasion: Any(except formal)

Inspired by: Parfums de Marly Layton

Tier: S

I was on the fence about this one at first, but the more I wear it, the more I love it. Spiced apples with vanilla. Almost reminiscent of apple pie, but not quite. A more fresh take on it over Oajan. The citruses are in it make it a bit more appropriate in the mild weather. A mass pleasing go-to fragrance when you don't know what to wear in the fall.

16. Tropical Aura
Main Notes: Fruits, musk, and citruses

Weather: Any

Occasion: Casual

Inspired by: Sospiro Erba Pura

Tier: B

A melange of fruits define Tropical Aura. It smells like that fruity chewing gum. It's not natural smelling, but it does conjure up images of lounging on the coast of Italy besides some groves of fruit trees. People say this is a cold-weather fragrance, but I think it can be worn in any season.

17. Arabian Horse
Main Notes: Tobacco, vanilla, cinnamon, and patchouli

Weather: Cool to cold

Occasion: Casual

Inspired by: Parfums de Marly Herod

Tier: A

Slight pungent and slightly sweet tobacco met with warm and spicy vanilla. I actually like this one more than Herod because it's spicier. One of the only clones I can say smells better than the original. This one is a workhorse in the cooler months and people love it.

18. Forbidden Plum
Main Notes: Plum, oud, benzoin, and saffron

Weather: Cold

Occasion: Casual or date night

Inspired by: Tom Ford Plum Japonais

Tier: A

Forbidden Plum is based around the idea of a Japanese plum. It's a bit dark, very sweet, and a tad medicinal. The saffron seems to be more sweet than leathery, but there is s slightly bitter note, which could be a leather nuance from it. It's a crowd-pleaser and a safe date night fragrance for both genders.

19. Black Tie Affair
Main Notes: Ambergris, vanilla, bergamot, rose, and black pepper

Weather: Cold

Occasion: Date night and formal

Inspired by: YSL Tuxedo

Tier: A

Black Tie Affair is a formal leaning fragrance featuring a strong dosage of sweet vanilla accented by ambergris, with clean and fresh rose, and juicy bergamot. The patchouli is very woody and only slightly earthy. I think this is a masculine fragrance. It's a very expensive and classy smelling fragrance that also works for date nights. It has a certain allure and captivating presence about it. Very well-made and very approachable.

20. Damascus Rose
Main Notes: Rose, oud, caraway, and musk

Weather: Cool to cold

Occasion: Semi-formal to formal

Inspired by: Le Labo Rose 33

Tier: B

Damascus Rose is a freshly cut and slightly powdery rose with medicinal oud. A little bit of that sharpness with a dash of spice from Caraway and some clean musk A very regal rose fragrance. It's not my favorite from Alexandria, but I quite enjoy it when I am looking for a good rose fragrance.

21. Egyptian Attitude
Main Notes: Patchouli, coffee, lavender, lemon, and cardamom

Weather: Mild to cold

Occasion: Any

Inspired by: Armani Attitude

Tier: C

Egyptian Attitude smells really nice. roasted coffee, zesty lemon, woody patchouli, powdery lavender, and spicy cardamom. However, it is sort of light and the performance isn't there for me. It's a shame because it is quite a nice fragrance.

22. The Best Life
Main Notes: Grapefruit, blackcurrant, fig leaf, green tea, and violet

Weather: Warm to hot

Occasion: Casual

Inspired by: Davidoff Good Life

Tier: D

I was excited for this one considering it has fig leaf and tea. The opening smells like bamboo and the dry down gets a bit sweeter with the blackcurrant and fig leaf. It's very green and I love green fragrances, but this one is just boring to me. It's not bad and I can't fault Alexandria for it because I am guessing the original smells around the same.

23. Amai Mizu
Main Notes: Yuzu. vetiver, orange, cedar, and sandalwood

Weather: Warm to hot

Occasion: Casual

Inspired by: Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme (vintage)

Tier: D

I was excited for this one because I love yuzu and vetiver, plus orange. Ultimately it smells like flat sprite to me. It's not a bad smell, but not something I would wear. It's just not appealing to me, but I resect Alexandria for coming out with these vintage formulations.

24. White Zest
Main Notes: Lemon, vanilla, bergamot, and sandalwood

Weather: Mild to hot

Occasion: Casual to semi-formal

Inspired by: Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche

Tier: B

I don't get the whole lemon meringue pie that some people claim they get from this, but this is a nice zesty lemon fragrance with a healthy dosage of airy vanilla and creamy sandalwood with some juicy bergamot. It's a nice dumb each for the warmer months and a lot of people seem to love it.

25. Tropical Nights
Main Notes: Coconut, lime, rum, bergamot, and ginger

Weather: Warm to hot

Occasion: Casual

Inspired by: Original creation (inspired loosely on Creed Virgin Island Water)

Tier: S

Tropical Nights is a mix up of Virgin Island Water with more lime and ginger. Considering this is essentially a niche impression and it only costs $33 for 60ml...That's a steal. It is more suited for night time over VIW, but it can certainly be worn in the day time.

26. Stanley Beach
Main Notes: Driftwood, seaweed, lemon, vetiver, lavender and oak

Weather: Warm to hot

Occasion: Casual

Inspired by: Tom Ford Costa Azzura

Tier: A

Stanley Beach is a blast of fresh and salty sea air with the smell of a dock nearby. It's very nostalgic of my trips to Myrtle beach in my younger years and that is probably why I rate it so highly. It's a different take on an aquatic and I surely appreciate it for what it is doing.

27. Burj Khalifa
Main Notes: Oud, fig, sandalwood, and ambergris

Weather: Cold

Occasion: Casual to formal

Inspired by: Roja Dove Amber Oud

Tier: A

Burj Khalifa is not for the faint of heart. It's a smoky beast with a bit of sweetness to round it out. It smells expensive. It's a monster in projection and longevity. The oud is front and center. Smoky, woody, and unashamed. The sandalwood is also smoky. The fig is lightly green with a bit of sweet fleshy fruit in there. The ambergris works to balance it out with a slightly sweet and salty nuance.

28. Citron Del Mar
Main Notes: Sea Salt, fruity notes, musk, and bergamot

Weather: Warm to hot

Occasion: Casual

Inspired by: Creed Millesime Imperial

Tier: A

A sweet fruity melange with saltwater. Add in a bit of clean musk to it and that is Citron Del Mar. A high-quality summer fragrance that makes you think of a sunny beach. The performance isn't top-notch on this, but the same goes for the original.  So, that's not a big deal to me in my assessment of it.

29. Zion
Main Notes: Grapefruit, lemon, ambergris, bergamot, vetiver, blackcurrant, and cedar

Weather: Warm to hot

Occasion: Casual

Inspired by: Roja Dove Elysium

Tier: B

I know a lot of you will disagree with me on this one only being a B, but for me it is. I do enjoy this fragrance, but it's just not something I reach for often, so I can't see myself putting it any higher. Tangy and fresh grapefruit, juicy blackcurrant, zesty lemon, clean and green vetiver, and sparkling bergamot with a touch of salt from the ambergris make this fragrance a true breath of fresh air in the heat. I just reach for other fragrances before this one.

30. Brasilia
Main Notes: Pineapple, birch, blackcurrant, bergamot, and patchouli

Weather: Mild to hot

Occasion: Any

Inspired by: Creed Aventus

Tier: A

As many of you know, I do like Creed AVentus, but I am not crazy about it. The reason why I rated this one higher is because it actually somewhat captures the sparkling and juicy bergamot opening that most other clones miss. I am not sure if this is considered a fruit or smoky batch, but the one I have is certainly more on the fruity side. Freshly cut and somewhat creamy pineapple, slightly smoky birch, sparkling bergamot, and woody patchouli. You folks know Aventus, so I won't go into detail, but this one is about 85% similar to the batch of Aventus I used to have.

31. Agar Intense
Main Notes: Castoreum, oud, juniper, and cypress

Weather: Cold

Occasion: Casual to formal

Inspired by: Tim Ford Oud Wood Intense

Tier: D

I have never smelled Oud Wood Intense, but I am a fan of Oud Wood. I just don't like this one. The castoreum is just way too strong and give the fragrance an overly fecal vibe. The cypress note is fresh and nice, as is the smoky oud, but the castoreum just ruins it for me. Some people love it. You can have it. It's not for me.

32. Serene
Main Notes: Mimosa, patchouli, ylang-ylang, bergamot, and orange

Weather: Any

Occasion: Any

Inspired by: Chanel Coco Mademoiselle

Tier: A

Serene is way too floral and feminine for me, but it's an excellent rendition of Coco Mademoiselle for women. So, that is why I rated it highly. I won't wear it, but I would love to smell this on a woman. I am not actually sure what mimosa actually smells like, but I can pick up the sweetness of the ylang-ylang pairing with the juicy orange and bergamot. It's quite a lovely feminine fragrance.

33. Africano
Main Notes: Musk, cyclamen, blackcurrant, and vetiver

Weather: Warm to hot

Occasion: Any

Inspired by: Byredo Bal d'Afrique

Tier: A

Africano is a simple, but unique vibrant vetiver based fragrance with clean musk. juicy blackcurrant, and fresh violet. I am not sure what cyclamen smells like, but it does have an underlying light floral nuance in it. This is a fresh and clean fragrance that is very modern and original. If any country in Africa smells like this, then sign me up for a vacation.

A Special Rose: Fragrenza Wild Palermo Review

Source: www.fragrenza.com

Hello, folks! I am glad you could stop by once again. Another double post today. I have quite a few fragrances to review in the near future. I am pretty excited about it! This one is no exception. Fragrenza is putting out some amazing fragrances and I wanted to check out this one. It's inspired by Xerjoff's More than Words. Let's get into it!

I was sent this fragrance for free. It does not impact my thoughts on it and I received no compensation for this review.

Notes

Olibanum, Labdanum, Ambergris, Fruity Notes, Woody Notes, Oriental Notes, Agarwood, and Floral Notes

The Scent

Opening

Wild Palermo opens up with a blast of floral and powdery rose with nondescript fruits in the mix. It has a fresh and lively opening. The fruity notes have a tart nuance to them and that note is the main reason why this fragrance is unique. I can certainly detect a bit of apple in there, but I can't uniquely identify any of the other fruity notes.

Dry Down

As WIld Palermo starts to settle you start picking up the oud a bit more. It's slightly smoky and almost leathery. The spicy notes are not overbearing. I can barely detect them, but they are there. Keep in mind that I can go anosmic to spices quite easily sometimes. The dry down is based more off of the oud, fruits, and rose. The fruits do a great job of defining themselves away from the rose, so they smell like separate notes, not a candied rose. That is what helps to make this even more unique. A lot of sweet rose fragrance come off as candied or cherry rose. This one does not.

Performance

Wild Palermo is absolutely nuclear. I am getting around 16 hours out of this. It could be more than that, but I don't stay awake that long. A solid cloud of 6-foot projection will grace everyone around you with its presence for a solid 5 hours, then moderate projection for another 2 hours or so. It takes quite a while for this one to settle into a skin scent. If you are looking for a beast mode fragrance, then this is one. At least on my skin.

When to Wear it

This fragrance would be way too cloying in the warmer months. Please only wear this in the cooler months. You might kill someone. Seriously, I am not joking. This fragrance can be worn at any time, but since it has such a dominant rose and oud note, I would say dress it up a bit. Don't wear this one in tight spaces. This fragrance is suitable for both men and women.

Overall Impression

This fragrance blew me away. The blending is superb and it smells quite expensive. It has a bunch of nondescript notes in it, but features a good dosage of depth in its scent profile. Just be warned that Wild Palermo is quite loud and it lacks manners in restraining itself at times. This is a fragrance that will get you noticed. If you are a rose/oud lover, then I would say you might want to check this one out since the DNA is quite unique to most fragrances in that category.

I hope everyone has a fantastic day. Feel free to hit that follow button or to join my Facebook Group. Be kind and courteous and make the world a better place!

Ready to Sail the Seven Seas: Scentual Obsessions Bay Rum Review

www.pixabay.com

Hey folks! I hope everyone is having a fantastic day today. I don't know about you, but I am itching for some fall fragrances, but it's supposed to be 98 degrees here tomorrow. Sigh, oh well. Hopefully, by the end of the month, it will start cooling down.

Today, I am covering a new house, Scentual Obsessions, that I had the pleasure of trying 3 of their fragrances. I was surprised to see they had an actual bay rum fragrance, considering a lot of houses don't. Bay rum was traditionally used by pirates to try to cover up their body odor while they sailed the oceans pillaging for long periods of time. Although rum is in the title, bay rum usually doesn't have rum in them. What pirate would waste a good bottle of rum to cover up their body odor anyways? Sounds pretty silly to me. Bay rum is also used in some barbershops as an aftershave.

I didn't take any pictures of the bottle because they are working on updating the bottle and I was sent a bottle that he had macerating in the back, so it doesn't have the same labels as the others. The juice is what matters anyways!

I want sent this bottle for free to review. It did not impact my thoughts on the fragrance and I was not compensated in any way to review this.

Notes

There aren't any notes on the website, so I will just list what I pick up.

bay leaf, allspice, cloves, nutmeg, and orange

The Scent

Opening

Bay rum opens up with a nice spicy blast of dry spices. Clove and bay leaves are the main players in this fragrance. The orange isn't fresh and juicy, it's more of an orange peel accord.  The bay leaf gives it a slightly herbal nuance and adds to the spiciness.

Dry Down
The orange becomes a bit more noticeable once the spices blend together and settle down a bit. The nutmeg and allspice serve as a catalyst to warm this fragrance up. Honestly, this fragrance reminds me of a Christmas spiced orange tea. It's very warm and inviting and has that comforting edge about it.

Performance

This is a strong fragrance. I am getting around 12 hours of performance with around 3 of those projecting up to 6 feet. Another hour of moderate projection before it settles closer to the skin.  Pretty impressive.

When to Wear it
This is a colder weather fragrance and the spiciness resonates very well with images of Christmas and Thanksgiving. I think you could wear this dressed up or casually. It's pretty versatile. It is a clove heavy fragrance, so I would keep it out of the office, especially if people are sensitive to fragrances there. This is certainly a masculine fragrance to me. I couldn't see a woman wearing this one.

Overall Impression

Ido quite enjoy this one, but it's my least favorite of the three I tried. That doesn't mean it's bad, but it's not as enjoyable to me as the other two. If you have never experienced bay rum, then you might want to check this out. Most bay rums are aftershaves that don't last very long, so this is a breath of fresh air in that category. I think I am going to wear this for Thanksgiving this year, since I love a nice warm spicy fragrance during the holidays. The orange note elevates this one above many others in this genre, so it makes it more than just a Spicebomb type fragrance.

Scentual Obsessions does sell samples as well. So, you can give them a try and see what you think. My discussions with the owner have been quite enjoyable. He is quite a friendly guy and is engaging with his customers. So, if you have any questions, feel free to contact customer service and he will be glad to help you out.

I hope everyone enjoyed this one. Feel free to follow me or message me on Facebook or through the contact option. I am always open to trying new fragrances and I love hearing from you folks. Have an amazing day and don't forget to be kind and courteous to everyone!

Clone Houses: How to Choose Between Them

Source: www.pixabay.com

Hello, ladies and gentleman! I am back once again. I took a little break to catch my breath before fall came into full swing. I am going to be dropping a ton of fall and cooler weather releases in the next two weeks, so stay tuned! I am super excited about this fall with some of these fragrances I picked up.

Today, I am going to talk about a touchy topic for some, clone houses. These houses essentially take a popular fragrance and make their own version of it and sell it to you for less. This can range from hard to find discontinued or vintage fragrance to higher-end niche ones. Now, these clones aren't the ones you see in Wal-Mart labeled "Our version of Cool Water". These are much higher quality ones that are made to perform and smell great while doing so.

The clone market has many houses. It can be a bit confusing trying to figure out which clone house will work for you, your budget, and what you would like out of a fragrance. Have no fear though, I have tried most of the houses out there. This list is aimed at helping newer people decide which ones work for them. It can also be informative to some vets by showing them some new houses. Let's get into it!

I will note this as a con for most of the houses here....Maceration. You have to let a majority of these sit for a bit before they fully compose their strength and scent character. It's just part of dealing with these houses, but you get used to it, although it can be a tad bit annoying.

Alexandria Fragrances
Source: www.alexandriafragrances.com

Pros:

-Fast shipping

-Excellent customer service

-They run sales quite often

-Very interactive with their customer base on their Facebook group

-Fair pricing

-They create formulations of discontinued and sought after designer gems.

-They have a grooming line and solid fragrances, which most other companies don't have.

-Top-notch original creations

Cons:

-Sometimes during sales shipping can be slow due to them only having a small team.

-Sometimes fragrances are sold out for an extended period of time before they get materials to restock. This isn't the fault of Alexandria, but it's still something to be mindful of.

Summary

Alexandria is probably the most widely known and regarded house on this list. For good reason. Hany Hafez and his team put their customers first and treat them like family. Their pricing is fair. Their shipping times are normally excellent. They ship internationally as well. They also have a good selection of things such as shaving soap, solid fragrances, and beard oil(which is owned by Hany's brother).

Their presentation is being upgraded all of the time as well. I haven't tried the new bottles yet, but they look pretty amazing.

I have tried quite a few Alexandrias. Around 40 at the time of this article and I have 5 more on the way. I can personally approve of this house and their creations. Of those 30 fragrances, I enjoy/love around 26 of them.

Dua Fragrances

Pros:

-Cool labels

-They have a bunch of inspirations of fragrances that are exclusive to other countries

-A huge selection

-Interactive with their customers on Facebook

-Good customer service

Cons:

-Slow shipping(from what I hear, I have yet to order from them)

-Somewhat pricey for clones

-They discontinue a lot of fragrances

-A lot of their offerings are constantly sold out on their website

Summary

DUA was the first clone house in the fragrance community, at least as far as I know. They have quite a unique selection of fragrances. Randing from high-end stuff that you can only get at Harrod's(A very upscale department store in London that sells luxury brands) to blends. Blends are fragrances that have two fragrance DNAs in them. For example, they have one that is a mix of Creed's AVentus and Creed's Virgin Island water mixed into one fragrance. I am not totally on board with this whole blending thing, but a lot of people love them. Maybe you will as well.

I have only tried 4 DUAs. One of them was amazing, 2 of them were good, and one was awful for me. That is just my nose though, many people swear by anything they make. You can order samples from www.smellsandsuds.com and see for yourself before forking over money for a full bottle, because they are somewhat pricey for clones, but as I said previously, they do make some hard to find ones.

Scentual Obsessions
Source: https://www.scentualobsessionsperfume.com

Pros:

-A huge selection of fragrances that no one else is cloning

-Top-notch customer service

-A bunch of different sized bottles

-They made body wash as well

-Very fair prices

Cons:

-No fragrance noted listed for each on their site

Summary

Scentual Obsessions is a newer house based out of Florida. They have a ton of offerings, randing from Candies to Green Valley. They were also one of the first houses(perhaps even the first) to clone Aventus Cologne. The owner of this company is constantly working to improve his product and takes feedback seriously.

I had a chance to try three of this house's fragrances recently. All 3 were excellent to my nose. This company actually makes a bay rum fragrance. Do you know how hard it is to find a decent bay rum fragrance? Amazing. Also, there is no rum in it. I will be reviewing one of them later this week.

Fragrenza
Source: https://www.fragrenza.com/

Pros:

-Unique bottle design. They are also crimped

-Some very stellar original creations

-Fair pricing

-The owner seeks a lot of feedback from his customers to improve his product

-They are constantly trying to evolve their presentation to separate themselves from other clones houses.

Cons:

-The bottles have a silver sheen and attract fingerprints(which could be a con to some)

Summary

Fragrenza is a newer house as well. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why this company isn't more popular. Their offerings are quite amazing. I have tried 6 fragrances from them, 2 originals and 4 clones and they were all stellar. I still have a few more to review from them, but I kinda spoiled what I think of them already, didn't I? Oh well, it's just the truth.

Website: https://www.fragrenza.com/

Genre Parfums

Pros:

-Amazing price to quality ratio

-The owner is very interactive with his customers and places customer service as the most important thing

-The owner is very transparent with any hiccups that might happen

-Excellent original creations

-Classy presentation

Cons:

-The owner works in the oil fields, so ordering is only open when he can be home.

-No website(They are working on one). Ordering is done through Facebook, which is deterring to some.

Summary

Genre Parfums has been around or a while, but they are just now getting some much-deserved love.  I have tried three creations from them and all 3 were very good. Especially considering these are only 25 bucks for a 30ml bottle. This is certainly a house you want to check out if you are new to clone houses. They sell samples as well, which are very cheap.

The biggest downside is that the owner can't release and take orders whenever you want because of his work schedule. The man has to feed his family though, so I can't blame him. They are worth the wait though.

Babylon Fragrances

Source: https://www.babylonfragrances.com/

Pros:

-The black and gold bottles look classy

-They come in a book styled box that has a silk type lining.

-Good value for what you get

-The owner is very responsive to feedback

-You can order a free sample from their site to try them out.

Cons:

-The caps are quite loose on the bottles, so if you forget and pick them up by the cap(which you should never do) then you might have a good smelling floor for a month or two. This isn't a con to me, but it could be to some.

-A newer company, so the selection isn't very diverse yet. They are working on it though

Summary

Babylon is another new house. I have tried around 8 of their offerings and there was only one I wasn't a huge fan of. It wasn't a bad fragrance, it was just a far stretch from the original to me. The rest of the ones I tried were very close. He recently came out with some originals, which I hope to try someday. I have heard great things about them.

I just received an inspiration of PdM Oajan from him. It's an amazing fragrance. This is another clone house that you don't want to miss. The review for that one is coming soon.

Zoha Aroma

Pros:
- An excellent selection of perfume oils

-Amazing prices(Their site shows prices in CAD because they are a Canadian company. They are even cheaper in USD)

-High quality to price ratio

Cons:
-They focused mainly on perfume oils, so their spray selection isn't huge right now, but the owner is working on expanding that.

Summary
Zoha Aroma is a budget-friendly house. As I said earlier, they focus on perfume oils mostly, but their spray collection is growing and is very fairly priced. He recently came out with some originals, which I have been dying to try, but I have not been able to afford them yet. I will get some at some point and review them for you all.

My advice would be this: Don't count out perfume oils. They are an excellent way to smell great and to carry them with you on plane trips. I love a lot of my perfume oils and Zoha Aroma makes some very high-quality fragrances that cost next to nothing. 6ml of a perfume oil will last you as long as 100ml spray.

My Top 10 Favorite Fragrances of All-Time

Source: www.pixabay.com

Good afternoon, ladies and gentleman! I hope today is treating you well. I also hope all of my readers on the southeast coast are staying safe from Hurricane Dorian. I am glad that each and every one of you could join me again. Your support and views are very appreciated and it helps me stay motivated to keep creating content.

Today, I will be covering my favorite fragrances of all-time. Some of you know some of these since I have spoken about them before. This is the complete list of my 10 most favorite fragrances. Honestly, I have over 200 fragrances including bottles and decants. This was a very tough list to make. This list goes on smell alone, price was not factored in, nor were clones. Performance is guaged in hours, so 10 means it lasts 10 hours or more and a 4 means it last 4 hours. Let's get into it!

Honorable Mention: Gallagher Fragrances Carpe Cafe

Source: www.fragrantica.com

Key Notes: Coffee, vanilla, cypress, and myrrh

Performance: 8+ hours

Weather: Cool to cold

Note: The best coffee fragrance on the market

I have tried two Gallagher fragrances and they were both outstanding. Another one made it onto this list, but I have to include this one as well. Sadly, this one is discontinued.

This fragrance smells like you woke up on Christmas Day and brewed a nice dark coffee and put a bit of vanilla in it and decide to drink it next to a Christmas tree. Daniel Gallagher is a genius. At first I wasn't a huge fan of it, until I started wearing it more. Goodness, this one has such depth and subtle nuances that were made by a passionate and caring perfumer. It's somewhat linear in its approach, but it also has a real depth in the notes.

Daniel, if you happen to read this, please bring it back if you can. I know sometimes ingredients are hard to come by, but this is such an amazing fragrance and I am sad to see it go. I might cry when my 10ml runs out.

10. Happyland Barbershop

Key Notes: Lavender, bitter orange, leather, musk, pepper, and ambroxan

Performance: 10

Weather: Any

Note: A modern barbershop from an underrated indie house

"Wait, John!? You said Signature was yoru favorite from Happyland! Why is Barbershop on this list instead?"

Well, let me explain. Barbershop has become one of my favorite dumb reaches in my arsenal. It fits any situation you can think of. Signature is an amazing fragrance too, but I have become very fond of Barbershop. A soapy clean masculine bomb with a bit of leather. You just can't go wrong. I will say it again, this is a future classic.

9. Houbigant Fougere Royale

Source: www.fragrantica.com

Key Notes: Lavender, geranium, green notes, oakmoss, and clary sage

Performance: 8

Weather: Any

Note: The fougere to rule them all

Houbigant started the fougere trend with this fragrance. An amazing floral fragrance with green notes and herbaceous elements that still seems aptly placed in today's modern world and stands out as masculine against the sickly sweet gourmands Ultra Males. Not that those fragrances are bad, but this one is just better. A classic for the ages. I only have a small sample. I am waiting for a clone house to
make this one because I cannot afford a full bottle.

8. Memo Irish Leather
Source: www.fragrantica.com

Key Notes: Leather, mate, and juniper

Performance: 9

Weather: Cool to cold

Note: My favorite leather fragrance

Irish Leather is insanely expensive, but it's quality juice. A dry leather paired with some green mate and a touch of herbalness and sweet juniper. A very country smelling fragrance. It's labeled as unisex, but I view this as masculine. Luckily, there are some high-quality clones out for this one.

7. Acqua di Parma Colonia Essenza
Source: www.fragrantica.com

Key Notes: Neroli, bergamot, grapefruit, jasmine, and petitgrain

Performance: 7

Weather: Warm to Hot

Note: A classicly clean fragrance with modern ingredients

AdP is one of my favorite houses when it comes to citrus-based fragrances. This one is along the lines of Tom Ford Neroli Portofino, but more modern with some green notes and petitgrain. It features decent performance for this type of fragrance and smells very natural. A very good dumb reach for the summer and my favorite from the house. I only have a decant, so I usually wear Alexandria's Alexandria Port instead because it's more cost-efficient. I would probably wear this one 2-3 times per week in the warmer months if I had a full bottle.

6. Tom Ford Tobacco Oud
Source: www.fragrantica.com

Key Notes: Tobacco, oud, whiskey, spicy notes

Performance: 10

Weather: Cool to Cold

Note: My favorite Tom Ford, but it's not a crowd-pleaser

Tobacco Oud is a very polarizing fragrance, but the more I wear it, the more I love it. Sweet tobacco with whiskey and smoky oud and a bit of spice. Very sweet, somewhat ashy and smoky, and very daring. This is a grown man's fragrance. This is not for guys in college. This will get you noticed, although sometimes in a negative manner. I only have a decant of this one as well, so I am not allowed to wear it as much as I'd like.

5. Gallagher Rose All Dae
Source: www.fragrantica.com

Key Notes: Apple crisp, dark rose, stainless steel, honey, and patchouli

Performance: 10

Weather: Cool to cold

Note: The most interesting gourmand on the market

Rose All Dae is a very interesting gourmand featuring stainless steel as a note. I know what you are thinking..."Stainless steel in a gourmand? No thanks.", but hear me out. This actually works. The Metallic notes aren't very prominent. This fragrance is more about the honey, apple crisp, and rose. It has something slightly smoky to my nose too. It's hard to really explain. This fragrance has unreal depth and character. If you want to smell like something different for a date, try this one out.

4. Alexandria Hafez 1984

Key Notes: Tobacco, rum, saffron, guaiac wood, cinnamon, and cardamom

Performance: 10

Weather: Cool to cold

Note: The best original and hallmark of Alexandria Fragrances

Hafez 1984 is another fragrance not for college guys. This one is opulent, wealthy, and potent. Cavendish tobacco with leathery nuances of saffron, spicy notes, and rum combine in a synergy that made Alexandria stand out from other clone houses. A masterpiece of perfumery. It's not just hype. This fragrance is really that good.

3. Burberry London

Key Notes: Tobacco, leather, cinnamon, and opoponax

Performance: 7

Weather: Cool to cold

Note: The holiday season in a bottle.

A Christmas tree, port wine, wet leaves...These are just a few of the things people get with this one. A legendary fragrance in its own right. One of my all-time favorites because it can smell like so many different things. This one just works and will forever be in my collection. One of the only fragrances that I have a backup bottle of. If you haven't smelled this one at this point, then you need to get it as soon as possible. Every man should have this one. Sample it first though.

This one is easy to go anosmic to. Don't listen to the claims of poor performance. I get 6-8 hours every time. It's good stuff and the flannel bottle is awesome and unique.

2. Creed Green Irish Tweed
Source: www.fragrantica.com

Key Notes: Lemon verbena, iris, violet, and

Performance: 8

Weather: Cool to warm

Note: The quintessential gentleman's fragrance

Green Irish Tweed at number 2? Yes, my long-time favorite was dethroned. Green Irish Tween is green, floral, and bright. Like a stroll through the Brisit countryside in spring after a light rain. There are plenty of high-quality clones of this one, but it's still affordable on discounters. It's well worth the price, but I generally find myself wearing the clones because most of them are very close.

1. Guerlain Vetiver
Source: www.fragrantica.com

Key Notes: Vetiver, tobacco, bergamot, lemon, nutmeg, and leather

Performance: 10

Weather: Any, but it's better in warmer weather

Note: The benchmark to which all vetiver fragrances are compared to.

Guerlain Vetiver is now my all-time favorite fragrance. In my eyes, this fragrance has no equal. The quality, price, and performance of this juice are breathtaking. A clean and spicy vetiver based scent. Very masculine, timeless, and approachable. I am only 33, but I will rock this fragrance at any time because I love it. Don't let people say you have to wear modern stuff. This fragrance is a masterpiece. Creed, Tom Ford, and Mugler cannot make a fragrance as good as this at this price point.

If you haven't smelled this, then you should get out from under your rock and at least try it. This is a piece of perfume history and everyone should try it out.

Conclusion

I hope you enjoyed my list. Let me know your favorites in the comments section. Don't be scared to hit that follow button if you enjoy my content.

5 Recent Alexandrias to Try

Credit: www.alexandriafragrances.com

Hey, folks! I hope everyone is doing well today. I recently received a few new Alexandria fragrances and I picked out 5 that I think you should check out. Hany did send these to me for free, but it in no way impacted my views on these fragrances and he didn't ask me to review them. I just wanted to share with you folks what I thought. Some of these have been out for a little while, but they don't get much love. These are in numerical order according to which ones I liked the most! The performance rating is out of 10. A 10 means it lasts over 10+ hours and a 4 meaning it lasts 4 hours. Let's get into it!

Note: These are my favorites according to my most recent acquisitions, not my overall favorites from Alexandria.

5. Egyptian Seduction

Source: www.alexandriafragrances.com

Key Notes: Sweet aged oud, jasmine, musk, and rose

Weather: Cooler

Performance: 10

Gender: Masculine

Clone of: This is an original creation

This one opens up with a very sweet and smoky oud with some florals in it and a bit of spice. The oud is of a barnyard variety and smells a lot like sweet hay on the dry down. This is a masculine fragrance through and through. I personally love the smoky hay vibes with a touch of florals and spice. The musk is a bit dirty and shines in this fragrance. It has a somewhat fainty minty vibe to it as well. I am not sure what causes that, but regardless...This is a great fragrance, but it's very polarizing and not ever everyone.

4. Italian Forest
Source: www.alexandriafragrances.com

Key Notes: Cypress, woodsy notes, and basil

Weather: Cooler

Performance: 8

Gender: Masculine

Clone of: Tom Ford Italian Cypress

This one has a slight similarity to Polo Green, but it has more depth and cypress in it(At least from what I can remember the last time I smelled Polo Green, which has been a while). A manly woodsman smells. This would be perfect with a red checked flannel shirt, jeans, and boots. I seriously need a full bottle of this stuff. I am a fan of some of the old masculine bombs and this is right up my alley.

3. Old Story

Source: www.alexandriafragrances.com

Key Notes: Neroli, petitgrain, lavender, jasmine, rosemary, and vetiver

Weather: Any, but more suited towards warmer

Performance: 9

Gender: Masculine

Clone of: Chanel Egoiste Platinum

This is one of the most slept-on gems in the Alexandria lineup. I guess a lot of people prefer more modern stuff though. This one smells like shaving cream to me. It has a certain citric brightness from the petitgrain, but overall it's a clean smell. A very classic fragrance that will never be out of place anywhere.

2. 1981X

Source: www.alexandriafragrances.com
Key Notes: Tonka bean, honey, tobacco, and vanilla

Weather: Cold

Performance: 10

Gender: Masculine

Clone of: Xerjoff Naxos

This one is a sweet and intriguing masculine bomb. Honeyed tobacco with a bit of sweet vanilla that is also slightly powdery. A bit of cinnamon and jasmine in the dry down as well. A spectacularly blended fragrance. This is a crowd-pleaser for sure. There is no question as to why this one gets talked about a lot. I wasn't a fan at first, but then I spent some time with it and it's really a well-blended and potent fragrance.

1. Moonstruck

Source: www.alexandriafragrances.com

Key Notes: Vanilla, cardamom, Peru balsam, cinnamon, and ambergris

Weather: Cold

Performance: 10

Gender: Unisex

Clone of: Atelier des Oros Lune Feline

A sweet and resinous vanilla fragrance with amber and some sweet and spicy cardamom. I will be honest with you guys, I have smelled a lot of vanilla fragrances and this is quite possibly my favorite. It has such depth and a warm vanillic aura that just brings you in and wants you to take it all in. Simply beautiful. This isn't a soft vanilla scent like Sublime Vanille, this is a potent powerhouse that will project for close to 4 hours. If you love vanilla fragrances, then this is one I highly suggest picking up a sample of.

Conclusion

I hope everyone enjoyed my take on these fragrances. I will do a full review on them a little bit later. I was just excited to share a few that I loved with you, so I decided to do a quit post about them instead of delaying it to review each one individually.

Have an awesome day and keep spreading positive vibes throughout the fragrance community! You never know who you could help!

A Romantic Night in Venice: Fragrenza Venice Seduction Review(An Original Creation)

Source: www.fragrenza.com

Good morning! I am glad that you could join me once again. Thanks so much for the support! This article is going to be about another Fragrenza fragrance, Venice Seduction. Fragrenza is a clone house, but this one is an original creation. I will go ahead and spoil it for you, Fragrenzas original creations are some of the best I have smelled among the clones houses. I was sent this fragrance for review, but I was not paid or influenced to review it positively in any way. I decided to not take pictures of the box like I said because he is changing the boxes. I will show you a picture of them below. Let's get into it!

Credit: Somia Hamad

Notes

Top

Cardamom and Dried Fruits

Heart

Night Blooming Tuberose, Saffron Flower, Tobacco Flower

Base

Patchouli Leaves

The Scent

Opening

Venice Seduction opens up with a slight licorice vibe, but quickly settles into something more palatable to my nose. I hate licorice, so it turned me off at first, so I am glad it changed so quickly. You get some very sweet dried fruits, which the only one I can detect with certainty is apricot. The cardamom is very sweet and somewhat spicy.  This sweetness persists throughout the entire life of the fragrance.

Dry Down

The fragrance morphs into something more masculine in this phase. The saffron is a bit sweet with a leathery nuance to it, as most saffron has. It adds a masculine layer on what would be a very sweet fragrance. The tobacco also adds that layer to it by bringing a sweet, but somewhat pungent aura to it. The patchouli is dry and woody, even though it says it's the leaves. Maybe that is what smells like that when most fragrances say patchouli and have that dry vibe to them? I am not sure. The tuberose comes off as a bit dark and creamy, adding a gourmandish facet to it.

Performance

Venice Seduction is a decent performer. I get around 9 hours with 2 hours of projection. A nice sillage bubble lasts for about 5 hours, but you can still get random whiffs of it after that. It's very sweet, so it's easy to go anosmic to this one. It's like BR540...it comes and goes, but you know it's still there.

When to Wear it

Venice Seduction is named aptly. It is a great option for a date night fragrance. Women will love the sweetness in this one. It could also be worn casually, but I would wear it formally, it's a bit too playful for that.

Some reviews say this is a woman's fragrance. I wholeheartedly disagree. The patchouli, tobacco, and saffron define this as more masculine to me. Some women could pull this off, I guess, but it's a man's fragrance to me.

Overall Impression

Venice Seduction is a sample of how great this house can be. I know I say there are a lot of upcoming houses, but Fragrenza is really doing something special with their originals.  The perfumer clearly shows an understanding of how to balance compositions and use dry and sweet notes together to keep a sweet fragrance masculine. I am anxious to try some of his more fresh fragrances as well. I am also curious to see what he does with some old school masculine bombs. I think I saw Platinum Egoiste on their site.

People who think Fragrenza is "just another clone house" are really going to be missing out. Especially on the originals. The perfumer told me that he thinks he has some of the best originals on the market. I have tried two of them and they are both masterfully blended and you can feel his passion for his art in them with the simple nuances that round them out. The only downside is that they do not have samples yet, so you have to blind buy. I am sure they will start offering samples soon.

Conclusion

I would encourage you to check out Fragrenza. They actually have unique bottles and use crimped atomizers, which show that they don't want them to look like decants. There is nothing wrong with using decant style bottles, but I think Fragrenza just went to extra mile to improve customer satisfaction. They are constantly looking to improve their products and presentation. They mean business.
