Rugged Class: Cremo Sandalwood & Suede Review

Hello! I hope everyone is doing well today. I am doing just fine. I just turned 35, so the realization that I am in my mid-30s now just dawned on me. That isn't a bad thing. I am just getting older. Hopefully, I will be as good as some of the classic fragrances when I get older and not that much weaker than they were in their prime. We shall see.

I have another Cremo for you today. Sandalwood & Suede released right under my nose and I didn't even know about it. Following the trend of Iced Citron & Driftwood, this one is only available at select Wal-Mart stores.

This bottle was sent to me for free by Cremo. I have not been influenced in any way to review this in a positive manner. They simply send me things from time to time and I do the rest. I have no affiliation with Cremo.

Without further ado, let's get into it!

The Introduction

A man in his late 30's. A tailored, yet classic suit. A well-kept beard. A somewhat gruff look on his face. He's a combat veteran that carries many burdens. A man who has seen horrors. Despite all of this, he is a man who always treats you with respect as he commands an aura of respect from you. He's a businessman who enjoys a fine cigar and a single malt after work. He drives a BMW. He knows that life could be so much worse and he enjoys the finer things in life, but he is never pretentious and always lives within his means. This is the Sandalwood & Suede man.

The Notes

Sandalwood, Suede, and Fig Leaf

The Scent

Sandalwood & Suede bursts to life with an almost bitter opening with suede and something almost herbal in nature. There is almost a slightly metallic tinge to it, but it doesn't stay for long. The greenness turns creamy as the fig leaf develops and the initial suede infused blast subsides.

The suede note is soft and realistic. The sandalwood is dry and woody. I can't exactly tell if all of the creaminess is from the fig, or if the sandalwood has a creamy edge to it. The creamy note bolsters the bridge between the woodiness and the soft suede, giving it depth and character. The fig leaf isn't fresh in this one. it's very much a more classical interpretation of fig leaf which uses only the creamy accents. There is no fresh green fig leaf that is baked in the Mediterranean sun with a grove of citruses trees around it. This fig leaf means business and doesn't want to play around.

My Opinion

Cremo has taken another classic scent and modernized it here, as they did with Blue Cedar & Cypress. I wouldn't say this scent is mature, but it is for a more serious gentleman. It has a rugged appeal to it, while still being classy and wearable.

It's a very good release, in my opinion. I still favor Blue Cedar & Cypress over this one, but this is on par with Bourbon & Oak for me. It's a very simple scent that wasn't meant to impress, but it does exactly what it wants to do- It's a wearable rugged scent that is appropriate for work.

Sandalwood & Suede is much stronger than you think it would be, since it comes off a bit soft off of your skin. This one projects pretty heavily for the first few hours. The total longevity on your skin is around 7 hours. Considering this fragrance only costs $23, I think that is good. Just say of a full work day.

This fragrance is more casual, but it can be worn to work in a suit and tie environment. I wouldn't use this for formal events though. This is one that certainly favors the cooler weather. This is a very masculine leaning fragrance, but perhaps a woman could pull it off.

Conclusion

I hope you enjoyed my review. I hope everyone has a great day. I apologize for not posting more. I have just been quite busy lately. I hope everyone stays healthy and positive. Don't forget to say something nice to someone today. You never know how much one kind word could help someone. Thank you for the support, as always.
