My Picks for Nature Lovers

Hey, everyone! I know it's been a long time since I have posted. It's been over a month. I ran into some real life things that shifted my priorities. I am back now, but I will probably not post every day. I hope everyone has been doing well! I am very grateful to all of you who have supported me even in my absence. Thank you so much, truly. Now on to my article...

Are you the type that some people would describe as an "insatiable wanderlust". Do you like by Tolkien's famous quote "Not all who wander are lost"? Do you prefer taking a walk in the woods over a stroll in the concrete jungle? Most of the time I do. This one is for my readers who love the wild places on earth. The ones who blaze their own path. The explorers who have a limitless curiosity. These are my top fragrance picks for nature lovers. Let's get into it! This list is in no set order. It's just numbered for cleanliness.


1. Pino Silvestre

I know in the FragComm that this fragrance is sort of a running meme of sorts, but I still like it. It's certainly a fragrance that harkens you back to a pine forest...Pine tar and all. It's a lovely classic fragrance that has stood the test of time...and noses. If you want a cheap fragrance to take you away to a forest to escape your 9-5, then try this one out. It's seriously like 10 bucks for 4.2 oz. It does have its share of haters because the pine tar smell in the dry down mixed with old school dry herbs can be a bit offensive to some people. This is for the man who looks forward to fall every year to rock his flannels for the rest of the year. This is not for your modern man.

2. Cerruti 1881

This is an older picture. My bottle has far less juice in it now. This is my personal go-to pick when I want to smell like a forest. Like Pino, this one is not modern. However, it holds up a little better than Pino does in modern times. This cedar and juniper fragrance with a healthy dose of pine needles and dry herbs is an olfactory vacation to a warm forest in the summer. It has massive projection and longevity as well. Also, if you don't like lavender, stay away from this one.


3. Rocky Mountain Wood

Dsquared's Rocky Mountain Wood is a masterpiece to my nose. An overall ozonic vibe with woods and masculine florals make this one a unique fragrance. It smells like a mountain forest just after it rained which a light breeze blowing through. It's surreal. It's also very cheap for the quality that you get here. Some people say it lack performance, but I get at least a good 8 hours on myself.

4. Alexandria The Irish Gentleman or Genre Irish Rainfall

These two are pretty similar, so I put them together. Irish rainfall is a bit sweeter on the dry down and IG is a bit woodier. They both have good performance. Why didn't I mention GIT instead? Well, that is because most nature lovers would rather spend 300 bucks on a Big Agnes tent than a fragrance, so I went for the budget option for this list. You folks always know the smell. I have reviewed and listed these two many times. It's a stroll through the countryside on a spring day after a light rain. A perfect way to brighten up your day.


5. Guerlain Vetiver

This is a fragrance that I find hard to put into words. It brings a lot of emotion out of me. It's just that good. A sunny day with a bright green field and a nearby small town in Italy. There is a reason that this one holds the standard to which every other vetiver based fragrance is judged. If you have not smelled this one, then you are doing yourself a disservice.


6. Burberry London

Like a warm sweater on a cold day, this one caresses your senses and makes you feel like you are in a park with wet leaves fall to the ground on a colorful day in the fall. This one has been reviewed a ton, so I won't go into too much detail, but it's amazing. I will link my review of it below.


7. Kerosene Canfield Cedar

This is a new one I was able to try out due to one of my friends, Kyle Stevens, sending me the entire line of Kerosense samples to try out. Thanks again, Kyle! This is the most realistic cedar fragrance I have ever smelled. This one puts you in the middle of a cedar forest accented by some dry sandalwood and spice. It's amazing. It's pretty pricey though, but it is certainly worth trying out if you love cedar.


8. PK Perfumes Ere

Kyle also sent me a few samples of PK Perfumes. I have had a few chats with Paul Kiler himself and he is very passionate about his work. It shows in this fragrance. Fresh herbs, pine trees, cedar, and a slight floral aspect give this fragrance a standing ovation in a crowded genre of woody and foresty scents. It smells completely natural, inviting, and cozy. There is also an overlaying greenness from the fern note, which Paul says he harvests for this blend. It's called the Kit-Kit Dizzie Fern according to his website. I am not sure how it differs from other ferns, since it's not a note that is used often. I just know this is a euphoric walk through the woods with plenty of character and originality that is not masked by an overly barbershoppy fougere that most of this genre has. I will be doing a full review on this one soon. 


9. Avon Musk Wood

This one is discontinued. I still wanted to put it on here because it smells like fresh cut lumber. A lumber yard is outdoorsy to me because of the whole lumberjack persona we have all come to know. The problem with this one is it only lasts about an hour on my skin, but if you find this one on Bay for a cheap price and want to smell a lumber yard for a few minutes, then this one is good. Other than that it's rather unremarkable, but still worth mentioning in my eyes.


10. Alfred Sung Hei

This is one of my favorite bedtime fragrances. It's relaxing and peaceful. It's a different type of outdoorsy than the rest. This one resembles a bamboo forest in China next to a stream. It's dirt cheap too and lasts about 6 hours. It's a great fragrance to relieve stress. I won't say too much about it, but I will link my full review below so you can check that out.


Conclusion

I hope everyone enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it. I would not suggest wearing fragrances in the great outdoors as they can attract bugs and such. When you are stuck in that cubicle thinking of a forest, then these will help you imagine that much more clearly. Also, always follow your local laws and think of safety first while in mother nature. It can be unforgiving for those who are not prepared! Have fun out there and leave no trace!
